London's Stretcher Railings: London is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world. When you walk on the road here, you will see some things from the time of Baba Adam, which is very old, which has a lot of importance in history, but the people of the present day are not aware of its importance. On some streets in London you will find bent, old railings (Bent street railings London). You may think that when the city is perfect in its beauty, then why the railings are installed like this. But you will be surprised when you know the history of this railing, and the reason why it was installed here.

Along the side of some roads in London you will find lattice railings, the corners of which are made of iron bars. These rods are seen bent from all sides. In fact, this railing has a connection with the Second World War. Actually these were not railings but stretchers. The number of wounded and dead increased significantly in the war. Stretchers were missing to such an extent.

The railings were removed and stretchers were made

According to one report, this was an emergency stretcher, used by air raid protection officers. Any soldier who got injured was taken to the hospital on this stretcher. Before the start of World War II, the government predicted that it would be needed on the battlefield, so about 5 lakh stretchers were made, which were produced in just one year.

Another important thing was that these stretchers were very easy and cheap to make. Because only iron mesh was installed. On which the injured were taken to the hospital. And the corners on all four sides were bent so that the stretcher was easy to hold.

Because of this, the stretcher was made into a railing

During the war, iron railings in many areas of London were removed and used to make these stretchers, after the war, when hundreds of stretchers were added, the administration decided to replace the removed railings by burying them in the ground. This is how the railing was installed. According to the report, these railings are found on Beckett Street and Pilgrimage Street.
