Know, why the Taliban regime considered the pictures or videography of living things a sin?

Kabul, 23rd February, 2024, Friday

Mohammad Hashim Waror, a senior official in the Taliban-ruled Justice Ministry in Afghanistan, described taking photos at a seminar in Kabul as the biggest crime. According to local media in Afghanistan, a Taliban official called the photo a grave sin. He further added that these pictures are wrong even if media people are taking them. Friends of the media and the Afghan people are always indulging in this sin. Images always attract immorality.

Between 1996 and 2001, the Taliban regime in Afghanistan banned live photography. The Taliban government, pretending to be liberal after returning to power in 2021, did not enforce any such order, but officials in Garh Kandhar were reportedly banned from taking pictures or videos of any living things earlier this week.

In a letter to civil and military officials, provincial home ministry officials have been directed to refrain from taking pictures of living things in their formal and informal meetings as it causes more harm than good. Officials are allowed text and audio in the meeting.
