Unanimous consensus on ceasefire in Gaza, Russia and China's veto on America's proposal in UNSC


Israel Hamas War: The ongoing war between Israel and Gaza has once again failed to reach a consensus on a ceasefire in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) meeting. Yesterday, the US and Russia made two separate proposals to the UNSC. But both were rejected. Where America vetoed Russia's proposal. At the same time, China and Russia rejected the US proposal using their veto power.

The US introduced a resolution at the UNSC, calling for a humanitarian truce, but not a ceasefire. It also spoke on ensuring that any resolution passed by the Security Council blames Hamas for the violence in Israel and Gaza. At the same time, Russia's proposal called for a focus on a cease-fire in Gaza. The United States, Albania, France, Ecuador, Gabon, Ghana, Japan, Malta, Switzerland and Britain voted in favor of the US resolution. Brazil and Mozambique abstained from voting. At the same time, Russia's resolution calling for a cease-fire in Gaza was voted in favor of four, including Russia and China. The US and Britain voted against the resolution, while nine other members abstained. If the Russian proposal received enough votes to be approved, the US vetoed it.

Russia's ambassador hits out at America

Russia's ambassador to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, told the U.S. accused of trying to block UNSC decisions so that Israel's attack on Gaza would have no effect. He criticized the US resolution as failing to talk about a ceasefire. He also said that this proposal presented by America is to strengthen the political position.
