A unique memorial in Bangladesh to Indian soldiers who were martyred in the 1971 war

This memorial in Bangladesh is a tribute to the contribution of the Indian Armed Forces. Bangladesh was born on the world map due to the unique efforts of the Indian Army. The foundation stone of this important war memorial was laid by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina in March 2021.

The names of more than 1600 martyred Indian soldiers in the struggle for the liberation of Bangladesh will be inscribed on the walls of the smakar. Retired Colonel Qaji Sajjad Ali Zaheer, chief designer of the memorial Asifur Rehman Bhuiya, Mukit Vahini History Minister AKM Mojammel Haque and Ishrat Jahan, a 1971 war freedom fighter and secretary of the Ministry of War, are among those involved in preparing the memorial. There is also a flag-hoisting ceremony in honor of the martyrs, a museum and library, a children's park and a food court.
