Eight former Indian Navy officers were arrested in Qatar in September last year on charges of espionage. All these officers have served in different posts in the Indian Navy. He is accused of spying for Israel. In this matter, the Ministry of External Affairs said that we are in touch with the family members and the legal team and are exploring all legal options. Apart from this, he said that since this matter is very serious, we are constantly monitoring it.
These 8 Navy officers were arrested
The Navy officers who were arrested include Captain Navtej Singh Gill, Captain Birendra Kumar Verma, Captain Saurabh Vashishth, Commander Amit Nagpal, Commander Purnendu Tiwari, Commander Sugunakar Pakala, Commander Sanjiv Gupta and Seaman Ragesh. All of them were arrested from their local residences for questioning on espionage charges. According to the report, the bail applications of these 8 Navy officers have been rejected several times. Qatari authorities extended his custody.
