- In the wake of epidemics, changing weather and fear of war

- Planning to store 15 thousand tons of grain every year till 2029, 90 thousand to one lakh tons of grain will be stored

Oslo: The Norwegian government has announced a plan for grain storage. Realizing the need for grain storage due to epidemics like Corona, fear of war and changing climate, the Norwegian government has started a plan to store grains worth Rs 50 crore every year. 15 thousand tons of grain will be stored every year. Due to this, a collection of one lakh tonnes is expected by 2029-30.

European country Norway has a population of 55 lakhs. According to the World Bank, Norway ranks fourth in terms of per capita income in the world and allocates the most funds to government welfare schemes. The beautiful country Norway is counted among the peaceful nations of the world. The government of this country has started grain storage planning in view of future uncertainties. Norway has announced a plan to store grains worth 6 million dollars or approximately 50 crore rupees every year for the sake of safety due to possible epidemics like Corona epidemic, possibility of wars like Ukraine-Russia war and changing weather.

Every year Norway will store 15 thousand tons of grain. At present, till 2028-29, every year grain storage is planned. By 2029, it is estimated that 90 thousand tons to one lakh tons of food grains will be stored and this plan will be extended even after that. Norway's Agriculture and Food Minister Geir Polestad said that three months' worth of grain would be stored. Now it will be easy to get food grains from the world market. If climate change causes disasters, wars or epidemics, obtaining food grains becomes difficult and expensive. Since then, proper storage and proper maintenance of grain will help in keeping prices under control. It is noteworthy that the grain storage system in Norway started in the 1950s, but it was decided to close in 2003. This storage system, which was closed due to lack of need for grain storage, will be restarted after 20 years.
