12 killed, 80 injured in stampede at Madagascar sports festival

A big tragedy happened in the African country of Madagascar. Indeed, the opening ceremony of the Indian Ocean Islands Games (IOIG) held here was marred by a stampede in which 12 people died. Local police officials said more than 80 people were injured in the accident and are undergoing treatment.

According to information, the opening ceremony of the Indian Ocean Island Games was organized on Friday at Bairia Stadium in Madagascar. There was a stampede in it. Prime Minister Christian Ntse also reached the hospital to visit the victims.

More than 11 are in serious condition

According to information, more than 80 people were injured in this stampede, out of which more than 11 are in serious condition, so there are fears that the death toll may increase. President Andy Rajoelina has expressed his grief over the dead. The President termed the incident as unfortunate. However, the reason for the stampede is yet to be known.
