A woman who smuggled 30 grams of diamorphine was hanged in Singapore


For the first time in 19 years, a woman has been sentenced to death

In Singapore, there is a provision of death penalty for the accused caught with more than 500 grams of ganja and more than 15 grams of heroin.

Singapore: A woman was hanged in Singapore on Friday. Here, a woman was hanged for the first time in 19 years. The Central Narcotics Bureau of Singapore said that 30 grams of diamorphine, i.e. the purest type of heroin, was found from a woman named Saridevi Binte Jamani, 45 years old. In which he was found guilty of drug trafficking in 2018.

The Singapore government has passed a strict law to prevent drug addiction from ruining the youth. He was sentenced to death under this Act.

He appealed against the sentence. But, the court rejected his appeal on October 6, 2022. Earlier in 2004, a 36-year-old woman named Yen May Voin was hanged by the Singapore court on charges of drug trafficking.

Yen May Woin was working as a hairdresser. Jamani has been hanged 19 years after his execution. In Singapore, in the last 3 days, two persons have been sentenced to death on charges of drug trafficking. Earlier on Wednesday, local resident Mohammad Aziz Bil Hussain was hanged on charges of trafficking 50 grams of heroin.

Another accused of drug trafficking will be hanged on August 3. He was sentenced in 2019. Many human rights activists protested against it. He argues that due to strict punishment, there has been no reduction in cases of drug trafficking. Currently in Singapore, China, Iran and Saudi Arabia, executions are carried out in cases of drug trafficking.
