A proposal has been presented in the Pakistani Senate to ban social media including Facebook, YouTube.

Senator Bahramand Tangi of Pakistan Peoples Party has put this proposal. It may be noted that the term of this Senate member is ending on March 11. A childish reason has been presented in this proposal that such a ban is necessary to protect the young generation from the negative effects of social media. Social media is influencing the young generation badly. It is being used against our religion and culture. Hatred is spreading among people because of it.

The proposal is to be discussed on Monday. However, his own Pakistan People's Party has distanced itself from Tangi who proposed the proposal. Recently, Tangi was also suspended from the party due to anti-party movements.

Tangi said that the use of social media is not in the interest of the country. Misinformation is being spread on social media against the country's security agencies. Fake news goes viral on social media.

Notably, social media played a major role in Pakistan's recent elections. Most of the candidates of the jailed Imran Khan's party were able to reach people only because of social media and most of the candidates won the elections.

Demands to ban social media in Pakistan for some time are also being seen as attempts to put pressure on Imran Khan's party.
