His father John Fullerton worked as a Major General in the British East India Company in Patna.

William Fullerton fondly remembered the moments he spent on the banks of the Ganges after his arrival in Scotland. William began mining coal and limestone along the River Doon. William hired many laborers for this. He built many houses near the mine to house the workers. Gradually this place started settling down. The village has a primary school, church, youth group and golf club. Interestingly, Patna appears before all these names. By the way, there was also a small railway station here. But when the mine was closed in 1964, the railway station was also closed.
