Taiwan's foreign minister gave an interview to Indian media, China became a bellwether, rhetoric between the two countries

New delhi date. 3 March 2024

After an interview given by Taiwan's Foreign Minister Joseph Wu to an Indian media, China has become assertive.

China's embassy in India has said in a statement that the Indian channel has provided a platform to advocate for Taiwan's independence. However, Taiwan has not been behind in responding to it. Taiwan has said that India and Taiwan are two democratic countries that believe in free and lively journalism.

However, the Indian government itself does not maintain any official political relations with Taiwan following China's One China Policy.

The Chinese embassy, however, has not digested the matter of Taiwan's foreign minister giving an interview in India. At the behest of the Chinese government, the embassy said, an Indian channel aired an interview on February 29 with Joseph Wu, president of Taiwan's foreign affairs office. In which Taiwan's independence was advocated. This interview is a serious violation of our One China Policy and is not acceptable to China. There is only one China in the world and Taiwan is a part of it.

After China got the chills, Taiwan has given a counter statement as if adding salt to its wounds and said that neither India nor Taiwan is a part of China. We are not puppets of China. China cannot impose any kind of duty on them. China needs to think about overcoming the economic slowdown in its own country instead of threatening its neighbors.

It is worth mentioning that China has been considering Taiwan as its own part and due to China's influence, only 14 countries in the world have recognized Taiwan as a separate country so far.
