London, 2 March 2024, Saturday

An MP from Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's party recently made an objectionable comment on London Mayor Sadiq Khan and refused to apologise.

Now Sadiq Khan has responded by saying that the leaders of the Conservative Party are targeting me because I am of Pakistani origin and racist comments are being made on me. This attack is supported by Sunak.

In an interview given to a Pakistani TV channel, Sadiq Khan said that the Conservative Party's Suella Braverman, Lee Anderson, Liz Trice and other leaders have made completely false and dangerous claims against British Muslims.

MP Anderson recently said that Sadiq Khan is under the control of fundamentalists and giving a counter statement, Sadiq Khan further said that unfortunately the Conservative Party is also encouraging such talk. Wrong words have been used for Muslims. Had I not been a Pakistani and a Muslim, I would never have been accused of this.

He further said that the allegation that London is being Islamized and Muslims want to occupy London is completely false and dangerous. Such accusations are being made to create fear against Muslims in non-Muslim communities.

He said that the Muslims of Britain have merged into the mainstream of the society. Muslims go to schools and universities for education. Works and also pays taxes. Yet the Muslim community wonders when we will be accepted…

It is worth mentioning that Sadiq Khan is the leader of the opposition Labor Party and he has given an interview to a Pakistani channel before the re-election of the Mayor in London.

Sadiq Khan said, Rushi Sunak did not call MP Anderson Islamophobic even a week after his comments on me. If they mind the word, they can call him anti-Muslim and Sunak knows this very well. Statements are being made against Muslims and people of Pakistani origin to intimidate voters.
