Iranian Grammy Award-winning singer Sharvin Hajipour has been sentenced to three years in prison.
Sharvin's mistake was that he sang a song in support of the protesters at an anti-hijab demonstration last year, which angered the Iranian government. After that, a case was tried against him and the court sentenced the singer to three years in prison.
The court upheld the charges leveled against singer Sharwin for spreading misinformation against the government and inciting people to protest. On the other hand, the singer refused to apologise, and because of this, the court finally ordered him to be sent to jail.
Hajipur has been banned from traveling abroad for two years by the court and has also been ordered to create a song about crime in America and post it online.
Sharwin Hajipuran gave the Grammy Award to America's First Lady Jill Biden for his song For.... The singer informed about the punishment he received on social media.
Hajipur said that I will not mention the name of the judge and the public prosecutor who fought the case against me. So that they don't get any threat. Because for me humanity is the biggest religion and insults and threats have no place in it. One day we will understand each other.
It is worth mentioning that voting for parliamentary elections has been held in Iran two days ago. After the anti-hijab protests in Iran, the government of Iran has taken a harsh stance against social activists, journalists, and artists.
