The Taliban who are ruling Afghanistan are announcing new decrees from time to time. Now, as part of a new order, a two-and-a-half-decade-old law is said to have been re-implemented.

This law has been implemented in the city of Kandhar in Afghanistan and according to which no photo or video of a living person can be taken. The directive issued to officers of civil and military departments said to avoid taking pictures of living persons in official or unofficial meetings. Because it does more harm than good. However, text as well as audio is allowed in meetings. The spokesperson of Kandhar Governor said that this ban is for the government department and thus it will not apply to the public or the media.

This law is reminiscent of two-and-a-half-decade-old times. Between 1996 and 2001, television was banned in Afghanistan, and even then photography of living persons was prohibited.

Most of the new laws enacted by the Taliban since taking over are women-oriented. For example, in November 2022, women were banned from entering parks and gyms in Kabul, and in December 2022, the Taliban also banned women from going to university. In January 2023, the province of Balkh banned female patients from being treated by male doctors, and in July 2023, the Taliban enforced a month-long ban on all women's beauty parlors.
