Germany News | The right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party has raised the issue of Germany's exit from the European Union. AfD has suggested that if Germany is to be strengthened, it should leave the European Union like Britain. Britain's government has announced that it will hold a referendum on whether to stay in the European Union or not, if it comes to power in 2025. With the ADF second in popularity in opinion polls for the 2025 election, its announcement is taken seriously.
The question of whether Germany will also separate from the European Union in the same way that Britain separated from the European Union is currently being discussed in the whole of Europe. In Germany, there is an election in September 2025 to elect the federal i.e. central government. For this election, the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party has raised the issue of Germany's exit from the European Union.
AfD has suggested that if Germany is to be strengthened, it should leave the European Union like Britain. The AfD has also suggested holding a referendum in Germany in the same way that the British government held a referendum on whether to stay in or leave the European Union. He has also announced that if he comes to power in 2025, he will hold a referendum on whether to stay in the European Union or not.
AfD's announcement has caused a stir as the ADF is second in popularity in opinion polls for the 2025 election. Given that the largest opposition is the Union Parties, it is certain that the current government will be defeated. Germany currently has a Front government led by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Olaf Scholz as Chancellor. The Green Party and the Free Democratic Party (FDP) are partners in this front. Out of the 735 seats in the Bundestag, the lower house of the German parliament, this front has 416 seats, while the opposition has 319 seats, of which the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Christian Social Union (CSU), also known as Union Parties, have 197 seats.
With 78 seats, the AfD is currently in fifth place, but its chances of coming to power in the next election are strong, as the gap between the union parties and the ADF is very narrow in the polls. Given that the election is still a year and a half away, the ADF could force its way into power. If the ADF comes to power, it will mean that its issue of secession from the European Union has swayed the Germans. Even in a referendum to leave the European Union, people support the FD so Germany can break away.
The current government of Germany is in favor of remaining in the European Union. According to the claim of German Finance Minister Christian Lindner, if Germany separates from the European Union, its economy will be destroyed because the single market created by the European Union is the most important for Germany. Being a member of the European Union, German goods are not subject to any duty in EU countries, so these goods are cheaper for all countries and Germany's manufacturing-based economy is booming.
Industrialists and businessmen are vouching for Lindner. Most politicians also agree with this. He argues that Germany has made a major contribution to strengthening the European Union. This is not to be expected, given that after years of hard work, the system of the single market has been set up, it is difficult to set everything up anew after leaving the European Union.
According to Lindner, leaving the European Union would destroy the German economy as German products become more expensive and benefit other countries. Germany cannot afford to leave the EU's vast market while its economy depends on exports.
AfD dismisses this argument as nonsense. According to him, Germany is on top in the car and machinery production in the world. Germany is the world leader in customized machinery so its service sector earnings are also high. No country in the world can run without German cars and machinery.
BMW, Mercedes-Benz. Luxury cars including Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche are German. These companies have established their awe by competing against America and Japan. Similarly, companies like Allianz, Adidas, Siemens also have influence and no one can reduce it. Even if European Union countries impose duty, the goods of these companies have to be sold. Another thing is that if other countries of Europe slap a duty on German goods, Germany can also press their nose by slapping a duty on their goods.
On the other hand, exiting the European Union will benefit Germany in that its financial sector will be strengthened. At present, companies from other countries of Europe are covered in the financial sector of Germany. Because of them Germans are investing in other countries and German money is going to other countries.
According to ADF, other EU countries are benefiting because of Germany. The total GDP of the European Union is $18 trillion while Germany's GDP is $4.50 trillion. Meaning, 25 percent of the GDP of the European Union belongs to Germany. On the other hand, in the population of 45 crores of the European Union, Germans are less than 20 percent, i.e. about 8.5 crores. The per capita income in the European Union is 40 thousand dollars. In contrast, per capita income in Germany is 53 thousand dollars. Under these circumstances, if Germany leaves, the European Union will be hit.
Among the Group of Seven (G-7) countries of the world's richest countries, Germany is the only country whose economic growth rate has declined. Two top banks Deutsche Bank and Commerz Bank have predicted that Germany's economic growth rate will be only 0.4 percent in 2024. ADF holds the European Union responsible for this. Lindner has shown a willingness to take steps to strengthen the financial market, but the AfD prefers a one-two punch to withdrawing from the European Union.
According to German political analysts, it has to be admitted that the feeling of separation from the European Union is getting stronger in Germany. The reason for this is the migrants coming from outside the European countries. The Alternative for Germany (AfD) proposed a resolution to separate Germany from the European Union three years ago, but at that time people did not like the idea very much.
After the formation of ADF in 2013, when ADF contested the elections for the first time in 2017, it won 94 seats. In September 2021, there was an election for the Bundestag, the lower house of the German parliament. Five months before that, Afda had decided to contest elections on three issues: anti-European Union, anti-lockdown and anti-immigration, but these issues did not bear fruit. Its seats were reduced to 83.
Now suddenly ADF's base has started to increase because of the migrants pouring in from outside, in which there is a large number of Muslims. Countries including France welcome these migrants in the name of humanity. These migrants then spread to all European countries including Germany. ADF says that because of these people, Germany is in danger and Germany's identity will be lost. ADF is becoming popular as people are getting this. ADF would come to power and separate Germany from the European Union.
Brexit understood for Britain but why Dexit for Germany?
The word Brexit was used for the separation of Britain from the European Union, as the word Dexit was used for the separation of Germany from the European Union. In the case of Britain, it is understandable that the two words Britain and Exit came together to form the word Brexit, but in the case of Germany, many people do not understand why the word Dexit is used. The answer is that Germany is called Deutschland in German language. In English we have the word India for our country but in Hindi we have the word Bharat as there are two different words in the English and German languages, so the original German word has been digitized by taking D.
ADF chairman Alice Lesbian, relations with a Sri Lankan producer
ADF is chaired by Tino Kripalla and Alice Weidel. Alice Weidl is a lesbian. Alice, who is in a same-sex relationship, lives with her partner Sarah Bossard. Sarah is a filmmaker of Sri Lankan origin and lives in Switzerland. Alice and Sarah have adopted two children.
ADF's ideology is aggressive. The ADF, which aims to make Germany the world's most powerful nation again, is accused of not believing in democracy, but Ellis is considered a liberal, so Ellis is the most popular in the ADF.
