Indian Origin Couple Convicted Of Sending Cocaine To Australia: An Indian origin couple living in London has been convicted for smuggling drugs worth Rs 600 crore from England to Australia. The couple is also accused of double murder in Gujarat. Despite all India's pleas, the British courts refused to extradite him. Now on Monday he was found guilty of smuggling cocaine via a commercial flight from London to Sydney.

The couple shipped the cocaine to Australia via flight

Born in Nairobi, 59-year-old British Indian Aarti Dhir hails from Gurdaspur, Punjab. The woman's 35-year-old husband Kawaljit Singh Raijada is a native of Keshod in Gujarat and is an Indian citizen. Currently both live in Henwell, England. Both have been convicted of shipping 514 kilograms of cocaine into Australia. An investigation by the National Crime Agency (NCA) revealed that the couple shipped the cocaine to Australia by flight, hidden in the cover of a metal toolbox in the name of the company. Cocaine arrived in Sydney in May 2021. After this, the Australian Border Force started an investigation and it was found that the couple was behind this big scam. Officials learned that the consignment came from Aarti Dhir and Kawaljit Raizada.

There were many shocking revelations while investigating the case

Raizada's fingerprints were found on the plastic wrapping during further investigation by officials in the case. Besides, receipts for the toolbox in which the cocaine was kept were found in the couple's home. Both Dhir and Raizada worked for a flight service company in Heathrow, London. By taking advantage of which they carried out their criminal activities. After the couple's arrest, investigating officers found millions of pounds in cash and gold-plated silver bars in their home. It may be mentioned that he established a front company named Wifly Freight Services in June 2015 for the sole purpose of drug smuggling. Both the accused have been the directors of the company at different times since its inception.

Both were convicted of drug export and money laundering offences

Both were convicted of 12 counts of drug export and 18 counts of money laundering at Southwark Crown Court. However, Dhir and Raizada have denied the allegations leveled against them. Now the NCA will initiate proceedings against him to confiscate his illegally acquired property. The couple is also accused in a double murder case in Gujarat. India tried to extradite the couple accused of the double murder from London in 2019. The couple is accused of murdering 12-year-old orphan Gopal Sejani and daughter-in-law Harsukhbhai Chhaganbhai Kardani in Gujarat. Together with Nitish Mund, the couple hatched a conspiracy to kill both of them. Aarti Dhir adopted Gopal Sejani in 2015.

Accused of paying the couple to hire hired killers

Adopted son Gopal and Banvi Harsukhbhai were fatally attacked by two masked killers in Keshod, Junagadh on 8th February 2017. In which both died. Dhir and Raizada are accused of paying Rs 5 lakh to Mund to hire hired killers. His extradition request was rejected by a London court on July 2, 2019.
