Russia ready to manufacture modern weapons under Make in India

Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister Subramaniam Jaishankar that despite the current turmoil at the global level, Russia's relations with India in Asia remain "stable" and are becoming stronger. In addition, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has expressed readiness to manufacture modern weapons with India under the Make in India programme.
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar, who is on a five-day official visit to Russia, once again praised the relations with Russia. He said that Russia is a valuable partner of India. On the other hand, Russian President Vladimir Putin has also invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to come to Russia to wish him victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar met President Putin at the Russian Presidential Palace, Kremlin. At this time, Putin told Jaishankar that we will be happy to see our friend Prime Minister Modi in Russia. Before his meeting with Putin, Jaishankar met Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Jaishankar said that he is confident that Prime Minister Modi and Russian President Putin will meet at the annual summit next year. Moreover, Putin and Modi have been in constant contact.
Jaishankar said on X Post that he met President Vladimir Putin this evening. Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted him and gave him a personal message. President Putin briefed me on my discussions with Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Appreciated his guidance on advancing the relations between the two countries.
Jaishankar held a 'meaningful' meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov during which they discussed the international situation and current issues. Jaishankar, who is on a five-day visit to Russia, also discussed the Indo-Pacific region, Ukraine conflict, Gaza situation, Afghanistan and Central Asia, BRICS, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, G20 and the United Nations with Lavrov.
He mentioned the progress made in bilateral economic cooperation, energy trade, connectivity efforts, military technology cooperation and people-to-people contacts between the two countries. Lavrov said they discussed the prospects for military and technology cooperation, including the joint production of modern weapons. Moscow is gearing up for modern products under the Make in India initiative.
Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha elections in India next year have not yet been announced, but Russian President Putin has wished PM Modi a victory. Putin said that regardless of the coalition of political powers in India, traditional friendly relations between New Delhi and Moscow will remain.
