Israel vs Hamas war | A state of war has been observed between Israel and Hamas for more than a month now. In the meantime, an important proposal was presented in the United Nations (UNGA) expressing deep concern against Israel's non-removal of occupation from the Syrian Golan. India's attitude towards this proposal was shocking.

Who did India vote in favor of?

91 countries including India voted in favor of this proposal. That is, India is against Israel's occupation of the Golan, a Syrian territory. It is worth mentioning that the Syrian Golan is an area of ​​southwestern Syria that was occupied by the Israeli security forces in 1967. Apart from India, countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Malaysia, Maldives, Nepal, Russia, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the United Nations opposed Israel's occupation.

These countries supported Israel

The 193-member United Nations General Assembly voted on the resolution named Syrian Golan under the agenda based on the situation in West Asia. Egypt presented this motion which was voted in favor of by 91 countries and a total of 8 countries expressed their opposition against this motion i.e. in support of Israel's occupation. However, 62 member states were absent in this poll. Countries like Australia, Canada, Israel, Britain and the United States voted against this proposal, i.e. in support of Israel's occupation.

What is in the proposal?

The motion expressed concern that Israel has not withdrawn from the Syrian Golan, which it has occupied since 1967, contrary to relevant Security Council and General Assembly resolutions. The resolution declared that Israel had failed to comply with Security Council Resolution 497 (1981). It also said that Israel's decision to apply its laws, jurisdiction and administration in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights is invalid and without effect under international law.
