Execution of criminals is very common in Iran and does not exclude juvenile criminals. In the latest case, Iran executed a 17-year-old boy in violation of UN rules.

The Iranian Human Rights Group says that Iran has executed 685 people so far this year. The teenager who was hanged was the son of one of the family. He was working as a weeder. He was 16 years old when he was accused of the crime and has been hanged for 17 years. However, under the pressure of the Iranian government, the Iranian media is saying that the age of this teenager was 18 years when he was hanged.

The human rights group says that the United Nations resolution states that anyone under the age of 18 is considered a child and Iran has violated this resolution. Iran is one of the very few countries in the world that executes even those under the age of 18.

In 13 years, Iran has executed 68 such minors. In Iran, the age of 18 is required to get a driver's license, but even 15-year-olds are given the death penalty.
