A shocking case has come out from Australia. A live worm has been found in the brain of a 64-year-old woman. This is being considered as the first case in the world. Doctors say that this is the first case of his career. The woman presented with all symptoms of pneumonia, abdominal pain, whooping cough, fever and night sweats. The doctor is treating him with steroids and other drugs since 2021.

In 2022, the woman also showed symptoms of depression and amnesia. Doctors then performed an MRI scan of his brain. Something went wrong. Then surgery was advised. But later it came to know that there is a living worm in his brain.

An infectious disease specialist in Canberra, Dr. Sanjay Senanayake said that the neurosurgeon did not perform the surgery because he found that there was a live worm in the woman's brain. Senanayak was also stunned to see it. When he called the surgeon and said, Oh God. You won't believe what I found in a woman's mind. He is alive.

This worm is found in snakes

What the surgical team found was a 3 inch long, bright red parasitic roundworm. Which scientists know as Ophidascaris robertsi. It was going back and forth in the woman's mind. It is also strange to find it in a woman's brain because it is usually found in snakes and not in humans. This particular type of roundworm (worm) is found in carpet pythons, a large species of constrictor. It is found in Australia, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.

Doctors could not understand how the worm found in snakes reached the woman's body. He had no direct contact with snakes but there are many snakes living in the Jheel near his house. Experts have speculated that it is possible that the eggs of the worms may have landed on a food item like spinach that the woman ate. If the woman was growing spinach for food, it is believed that the egg of the worm must have come on her.
