Saudi Arabia and the UAE are on the road to mending relations with one-time arch-enemy Israel. However, there are a number of Muslim countries that flare up at the mention of Israel. Libya is also one of these countries.

The government has suspended the foreign minister of Libya, Najla Mangoush. Because Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen has claimed that, last week I met with Libyan Foreign Minister Mangoush in Rome.

After this statement, people took to the streets of Libya and protested against Foreign Minister Mangoush. After that, the Prime Minister of Libya suspended the Foreign Minister and ordered an investigation into the whole incident. On the other hand, Mangaush has left for Turkey after the information about the meeting came out.

Regarding this meeting, Israel's Foreign Minister Eli Cohen said that an important discussion has taken place between me and the Libyan Foreign Minister to protect the heritage of the Jewish community that once lived in Libya. In addition, Israel offered to assist Libya in the agricultural sector and water management sector.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Libya described the meeting as informal and accidental and said that there was no discussion and no agreement was reached in this meeting.

It is also being claimed that the Prime Minister of Libya Dabiba already knew about this meeting and had given the green light for this in advance. The meeting between the foreign ministers of both the countries lasted for two hours. Mangoush also informed the Prime Minister about this after returning to Libya.

However, Mangoush was surprised when Israel made the meeting public and has now fled to Turkey.
