7.0 magnitude earthquake hits Bali, Indonesia: no tsunami warning


- Earthquake at 4 a.m. panicked people out of their homes: No casualties reported

Jakarta: An earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale hit the Indonesian islands of Bali and Lombok at 4am today (10pm GNT). But so far there is no threat of tsunami due to that earthquake. The European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), which recorded the earthquake on Tuesday morning, said that there were no reports of casualties or damage to property. With the tremors of the earthquake, people came out of the house.

The epicenter of this earthquake was 203 km north of Mataram. (126 miles) EMSC said. However, the Geological Organizations of Indonesia and the United States reported the magnitude of the earthquake as 7.1.

It was further learned that at 4.00 am local time, this earthquake was followed by two more aftershocks - 6.1 and 6.5.

People also rushed out of Bali's Hotel Mercure Kuta Bali. So the hotel manager Saudi told the reporters. However, the hotel building was not damaged due to this earthquake. The hotel guests later went to their rooms.
