Horrendous violence in Niger, French embassy attack, Putin Zindabad chants, police action


Thousands of people in Niger expressed their anger at the influence of France in supporting the military coup. This led to tense and violent scenes in front of the French Embassy. According to local media reports, pro-coup demonstrators stormed the French embassy here and chanted Putin Zindabad.

Police fired tear gas shells

Amidst the violence and tension, some demonstrators hoisted Russian and Nigerian flags near the French Embassy. Apart from this, the demonstrators raised slogans of France Mordabad, Putin Zindabad and Russia Zindabad. Police officers in Niger fired tear gas shells in an attempt to disperse some of the demonstrators. In addition, some people have tried to set fire outside the French Embassy compound.

Condemned by the international community

According to the news agency, President Emmanuel Macron's office announced that anyone attacking French persons or facilities in Niger would face immediate retaliation from France. The removal of Bazum by Niger's Presidential Guard and the establishment of the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland Military Junta has been widely condemned by the international community.
