Wiener Zeitung, one of the world's oldest newspapers, closes after 320 years

Vienna-based daily Wiener Zeitung, one of the world's oldest newspapers, has ceased printing after 320 years.

This newspaperwas started on August 8 , 1703.At first it was called Vinrisches Diarium. 320 years , 12 presidents , 10 emperors , 2 republics and one newspaper were writtenon the first page of the last copy of the newspaper published on Friday .

The newspaper was owned by the Austrian government but its editors worked independently. Due to the new law in force recently, the newspaper reported a large drop in revenue.

This newspaper was considered as a quality publication. In which domestic and international news were included. Apart from this, it included cultural and business news.

The newspaper recently cut 63 jobs. The number of employees in its editorial department was reduced by 75 percent to 20.

However, this newspaper will continue to be published online. However, the newspaper is considering starting a monthly print edition.

An interview of Austrian popular actor and leader Arnold Schwarzenegger has been printed in the last issue of the newspaper.
