Vienna, June 30, 2023, Friday

A 320-year-old newspaper published in the city of Vienna, Austria, has stopped publication. The newspaper Wiener Jitung published its final copy today on Friday. The newspaper, which is considered to be one of the oldest newspapers in the world, will no longer be seen or read by the readers. According to the information received, this newspaper was started on August 8, 1703 under the name Wienerisches Diarium. News printed in a poetic language and disciplined manner were the biggest hallmarks of this publication.

The first page of the final version of the newspaper read 320 years, 12 presidents, 10 emperors, two republics and one newspaper. Wiener Zeitung was monopolized by the Austrian government but the team was free to print news and write editorials. In Austria, the newspaper was facing financial difficulties due to a recent change in the law, with revenues falling sharply. However, the newspaper will not only continue its online version but also publish a monthly version.
