Chinese spy balloon that shot down did not collect intelligence, US says

In February this year, tensions arose between America and China over spy balloons. A Chinese balloon was seen in the sky of the US state of Montana. China called it an end-to-end weather-gathering balloon. However, the US Air Force shot it down. Now the US Department of Defense has revealed to the Pentagon that the Chinese spy balloon that was shot down did not collect any intelligence.

BALLON COLLECTS NO SENSITIVE INFORMATION : US

The Pentagon has not specifically said whether the Chinese balloon was for spying or not. However, Defense Ministry spokesman Brigadier General Pat Ryder said the balloon neither collected nor sent any sensitive data to China. We know the balloon had intelligence gathering capability but it is our analysis that the balloon did not collect any sensitive information while passing through US skies. Ryder further said that the Pentagon has already cracked down on the balloons and prevented such an attempt.

There was tension between the two countries

In response to the US allegations, China said it was a civilian aircraft used for weather monitoring. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken also postponed his visit to China due to the Chinese balloon. Blinken visited China a few days ago.
